What we have in common with Ancient Egyptians

Just like the skilled team of tradespeople at Platinum Plastering, Ancient Egyptians were incredible craftsmen and plasterers.

Plastering is one of the most ancient trades in building and construction. The earliest forms of plastering were applied in what is now modern day Turkey around 7500BC. This primitive recipe was a mixture of mud or clay, sand and straw. It was used to plaster wooden huts making them durable and less prone to intrusive insects and bad weather. It didn’t require a furnace and dried with the sun.

“Plaster is the most vigorous as it is the oldest vehicle for carrying down generation after generation the masterpieces of art.” – William Millar

The Pyramids in Egypt have been found to contain 4,000 year old plaster made from gypsum. This was burned in open fires, crushed into powder, and combined with water to create internal and external plaster. As well as providing a smooth finish to their structures, it was used as mortar between the blocks of limestone. This form of plastering remains in good condition to this day.

Platinum Plastering will ensure the finished project is done right and will stand the test of time. When you’re looking for a Brisbane based plastering team, you know who to call (and if it isn’t clear we mean Platinum Plastering, not the Ancient Egyptians).
